Brand Identity: More Than Just a Logo

Brand Identity: More Than Just a Logo A brand is more than a logo.

It is more than the colours you use, the font on your website, or the name printed on your business card.

A brand is the experience people have whenever they come in contact with your business.

As a company grows, this becomes even more important.

At Fantop, we are learning that building a global brand requires us to pay attention to the smallest details.

From the way we communicate, to the quality of our videos, the sound of our voice-over, the design of our platforms, the way we respond to customers, and even the way we present our ideas, everything communicates something about who we are.

Going global changes the standard

When you are building locally, it can be easy to say, “This is good enough.”

But when your vision is bigger than one community or one country, the question changes.

It becomes:

“Does this represent the company we are becoming?”

That question challenges you to raise your standards.

A voice-over may sound acceptable, but does it sound professional enough for an international audience?

A design may look good, but does it communicate trust and excellence?

A website may function, but does the experience make someone from another country immediately understand what you represent?

These details matter.

Feedback is part of growth

One of the greatest mistakes a growing company can make is surrounding itself only with people who say, “This is perfect.”

We need people who are willing to say:

“This can be better.”

Constructive criticism is not an attack on the brand. Sometimes, it is a gift to the brand.

Recently, we received feedback on one of our FantopX promotional materials.

The feedback pointed out areas around the voice-over, background and overall presentation.

Instead of becoming defensive, we looked at it differently.

If someone can identify where we can improve, then we have an opportunity to improve.

That is how strong brands are built.

Your customers are part of your brand-building process

Your customers see things your team may overlook.

They experience your product differently.

They may notice that something is confusing, slow, difficult to understand or simply not impressive enough.

Listen to them.

Listen to business owners.

Listen to young people.

Listen to professionals in marketing, design and communication.

Listen to people outside your immediate market.

But don’t just collect opinions.

Study the feedback.

Look for patterns.

Then improve.

Global does not mean losing your identity

Going global does not mean pretending to be someone else.

It does not mean abandoning your African roots or trying to sound foreign.

It means taking what is uniquely yours and presenting it at a standard that people anywhere in the world can understand and appreciate.

We can be proudly African and globally relevant.

We can build from Nigeria and serve the world.

We can understand our local communities while creating products and experiences that meet international expectations.

Every detail tells your story

Your receptionist represents your brand.

Your customer service represents your brand.

Your social media page represents your brand.

Your website represents your brand.

Your staff represents your brand.

Your packaging represents your brand.

Your presentation represents your brand.

Your voice represents your brand.

Your response to a complaint represents your brand.

Everything speaks.

The question is: What is it saying about you?

At Fantop, our ambition is not simply to build businesses.

We want to build institutions that can stand for generations.

That means we must continually improve our standards, listen to honest feedback, invest in our people and never become comfortable with mediocrity.

Because the brand we are building today must be strong enough to carry the vision of tomorrow.

Your brand is bigger than your logo.

And if you are going global, every detail matters.
